DOES THE LORD DELAY IN COMING?

With the difficulties we encounter every day in an increasingly unjust world, we want to ask ourselves the question: Lord, when are you coming back? Come back soon!

The Bible tells us that Lot was in torment in Sodom. This righteous man, who dwelt among them, tormented his righteous soul daily because of what he saw and heard of their criminal deeds (2 Peter 2:8). What else can we ask in this case except that the Lord deliver us from this increasingly unjust world?

But it is not only the righteous who are interested in the Lord’s return. Mockers too – as in the time of Noah – constantly ask us when our Lord will finally return, since we have been waiting for Him!

Well, here are the answers I found in the Bible:

“The Lord does not delay in fulfilling the promise, as some believe; but has patience with you, not wanting that any should perish, but wanting that all should come to repentance”. ( Peter 3:9)

Now when the Bible says that he wants all to come to repentance, it says justly that :

“This gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness to all nations. Then will come the end.” (Matthew 24:14)

So you know what holds back the return of the Lord and you also know what – in my opinion – holds back the ungodly in 2 Thessalonians 2.

May the Lord bind our hearts to the things that are above and not to the things that are on earth! (Colossians 3:2)
